Be part of this exciting youth art project, using clay & ceramics to create a public artwork for the Portland Arts Centre!

Over this series of free hands-on workshops and studio sessions, young people (ages 12 to 25) will explore ideas around identity, culture, and community, and develop skills working with clay, hand-building, and glazing to create individual pieces that come together as a shared artwork for the Bentinck Street exterior of the Portland Arts Centre.

No previous experience is needed - just an interest in making and creating!

These workshops are led by prominent Portland artist Rory Carter, who has extensive experience leading creative projects with young people and community groups. Workshops are run in a safe, relaxed, and supportive environment where everyone is welcome.

Dates of workshops

Workshop 1: Thursday 26 February - Project Introduction, 4:00pm - 6:30pm
Workshop 2: Thursday 5 March - Studio Work, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Workshop 3: Thursday 12 March - Studio Work, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Workshop 4: Thursday 19 March - Studio Work, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Workshop 5: Thursday 26 March - Final Prep / Celebration Planning, 4:00pm - 6:00pm

When the final work is complete, there will also be a celebration and public unveiling.

NOTE Participants under 18 years of age will require a parent or guardian to complete a digital permission slip
