This year's program will be led by none other than musical theatre sensation Jason Chasland!

 

What is THEATREPALOOZA?

It's the Portland Arts Centre's annual performing arts holiday program for ages 12 -25. Spread across two days, participants get to work with professional theatre makers to learn new skills, and collaborate to create a performance to share with family and friends on the second evening at the Portland Arts Centre. 
No experience necessary – everybody is welcome! 

 

What is musical theatre?

Musical theatre is one of the most popular theatre styles in the world, using song, dance and dialogue to tell a story.

 

What to expect?

Participants will spend two days developing ensemble performance skills, storytelling techniques, vocal harmony, basic choreography, and confidence in musical theatre. The workshop is suitable for beginners through to experienced young performers.

Who is it for?
Anyone between 12 and 25 years old that wants to learn new performance skills, make new friends, and generally just have fun!

Arrival for audience: 5:25 pm
Showcase time: 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Family and friends are welcome!

What do I need to bring?
Bring your water bottle – filtered water, lunch and snacks provided. Please advise any dietary requirements when booking.
Make sure to wear comfy clothes with some stretch so you can MOVE and closed shoes (no thongs or slides)

What does it cost?
It's FREE! But bookings are essential!

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR  

Multi award winning, performer, writer and theatre mentor, Jason "Jay" Chasland holds a degree in musical theatre with honours and an advanced diploma in writing for performance with honours from a scholarship at the Wellington Performing arts centre.

A former member of the young Shakespeare company in London, he has performed and taught in Asia, the U.A.E, the U.S.A., the U.K and throughout Australia - including working for the Beckhams and Adele.
