PAC Turns 50

On Saturday 20 July 1974, after significant community fundraising and government support, our venue opened for the first time. Over those five decades, the Portland Arts Centre has hosted community groups and professional artists from all around the world, to inspire and entertain the Portland region.

50 years later, we invite you to join us for a special celebration, with a show that epitomises what we do best; bringing together the community and professional artists.

SHOWER SONGS! is everything - a bathtub boogie you’ll never forget that is funny, surprising, breathtaking, heart-warming, bubbly, sexy, teary, wet and wild.

Join an all star cast of cabaret and burlesque superstars! Steamy diva Kate Foster, cabaret icon Maude Davey, burlesque goddess Miss Maple Rose, Parisian club kitten Iva Rosebud and operatic roof raiser Piera Dennerstein - and you may even recognise a local face or two...

From disco ducks to opera arias, flying fans to raining men, when that bubble machine lights up, you know it's gonna get hot & steamy!

Grab your shower cap & your disco duck, it’s gonna’ be the best night out of 2024!

Then, get ready to join us for the karaoke lounge after the show!

The afterparty! Time for cake, a last round of drinks, and then hit up the Karaoke Club.

Dress to Impress!

This is a night to go WILD - whether it's in your finest black tie getup, or your fuzziest bathrobe and slippers!

Karaoke Club Rules

Singer etiquette:

  • Places for singers will be limited due to time restraints, so if you want your 2-5 minutes of fame, get in quick and register your interest during the arrival refreshments.
  • The stage is set for soloists, or up to four people, sharing two mics.
  • Know what you want to sing, and have a backup ready in case we can't get you the track, or someone else already sang it.
  • Pick something short and sweet - and if your choice has long instrumentals, then get ready to dance!

 

Audience etiquette:

  • Make sure you cheer your head off for absolutely everyone brave enough to step under that disco ball! 
  • This is the performer's time to shine, so try to avoid singing along - unless of course they wave you in! (or if they pick Sweet Caroline. That's totally on them - BA! BA! BA!)
