Movement for Performance

Four people with diverse body types performing a dance together

Our All-Abilities Exhibition is right around the corner, and there are lots of exciting opportunities for participants to get involved in art making by creating works for the exhibition, or short performance items for the opening night showcase on Thursday 5 December

Participants can take part in workshops to help them create a performance for the opening night, or simply to enjoy themselves and try something new in a safe and supportive environment.

In this session, Monica Treloar, dance instructor and NDIS worker, will encourage participants to move their bodies for self expression and enjoyment.

All workshops are bookable through the Portland Arts Centre and are free. Bookings are essential and numbers are capped to ensure safety and enjoyment.

General information about our performance workshops.

  • Workshops are open to people of all abilities interested in performing in the showcase.
  • Workshops are limited to 15 participants and their support workers.
  • Participants with high care needs will need to bring a companion, as we will have limited capacity onsite to assist.
  • They are relaxed sessions, and while we encourage everyone to give things a try, you are free to sit out on any activities you choose.
  • You can take part in the workshops even if you don't want to perform on the night.

If you're interested in performing in the showcase but can't make it to the workshops, contact Virginia Winter (5522 2263 or arts@glenelg.vic.gov.au ) to talk about your act and how it can be included.
