Carmel Wallace

Commissioned by the Glenelg Shire Council to create a contemporary sculpture referencing stories associated with the Admella shipwreck of 1859, Carmel Wallace focused on the role of the crew of the Portland Lifeboat. Wallace considered how rescue and survival might be thought of now in both human and environmental terms. The resulting bronze sculpture is featured in this exhibition alongside a body of other new works created as part of this project. The exhibition is complemented by dramatic footage of the Southern Ocean by Peter Corbett of Powerhouse Productions with music composed by Michael Wallace.
