Saltwater Edge and Beyond: Exhibition - 2023

In 2023 the Portland Arts Centre was treated to a beautifully curated Exhibition by Christine Pearce: Saltwater Edge and Beyond.

Christine Pearce is a Gunditjmara Elder and artist from Portland. She has worked for many years with her community in a health setting. Having now retired she enjoys devoting her time to developing her art practice.

Christine describes herself as a contemporary artist. Her non-traditional paintings and weavings are inspired by life experiences, nature and, of course, her cultural background.

The opening began with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country by Walter Saunders.

Opening remarks were by Deborah Saunders.

The exhibition was from Thursday 29 June until Sunday 1 October 2023
